Hi there 👋 This is Houston's fifth issue and here are the five exciting problems that we found this week:
Problem #1: “For a while now I've been trying to find a good Karaoke app that works with Spotify or Apple Music but there's nothing out there. Smule and Musixmatch are ok for lyrics but this isn't actually Karaoke. The same thing applies for Karaoke bars. They either use YouTube or some crappy software. One app that creates a great user experience for individuals and clubs/djs/bars etc. could be a game changer.”
Problem #2: “This might sound a little weird but I am part of a congregation (church) and I wish that we could have a way to build our community online. I imagine something that combines Slack, Facebook Live, Shopify and Patreon.” All of these things can be done independently today but a software that bundles everything together would remove a ton of friction."
Problem #3: “So today I was walking through Saks (large retail store) and it shocked me that literally +80% of the store assistants just sat there idle (looking quite bored I might add). With brick-and-mortar stores having a really hard time these employees could be doing something else like responding to customers comments on Saks's Instagram account or selling via another medium.” via Sophie Ishak
Problem #4: "For the past 3 months I started taking my diet seriously as part of a New Year's Resolution. It's going well for the most part because there are a lot of healthy food choices nowadays except when it comes to vending machines. I've only come across vending machines with junk food." We did some research and OhMyGreen does healthy snacks and Healthy Vending kinda does this but there's definitely a real opportunity for building a great brand around healthy snacks. Problem #5: “So I am trying to organize a club for cyclist at my company and I've realized that there's quite a bit of overhead involved. I have to spend a lot of time inviting people, organizing recurrent meetings, posting in different slack channels so that people know about our events, creating flyers for our events, etc. It would be awesome to have a tool that allowed you to do all of these things easily. It would also make it easy to discover what other people are interested in in the company and I suspect that it can help a lot with retention and boosting morale.”
